O'Reilley Interview with Hillary, Vol 1

The Fox interview with Bill O'Reilleywas an astute political move by Hillary Clinton. At a time when Barack Obama seems to be imploding right before our eyes due to the Reverend Wright issue, Hillary Clinton has been talking about economic issues and gas prices, even proposing a gas tax holiday. I thought she was fantastic in the interview. She was relaxed, light, jovial but she was forceful when she needed to be. Right out of the gate, O'Reilley asked about Reverend Wright. Hillary clearly did not want to touch the subject with a ten-foot pole but with his familiar caustic and pushy way, he was able to was able to pry from Hillary, her true feelings about Wright's words were offensive and outrageous. What dis it was the the bond he established with her as fellow patriotic Americans.

Hillary Clinton did not bite when O'Reilley gave her an opening to go after the Left-Wing Media over their obvious preference for Obama. She responded that she has been around a long time, fought many battles, like Health Care and the criticisms were part of the territory. They had a vigorous debate about taxes with O'Reilley challenging her on the percentage she would take from him (39%). She made no definite policy proposal statement about payroll taxes and said she would decide in the future.

I think Hillary Clinton's appearance on Fox, and her statement about her record of bipartisanship is a signal that she would not be to the hard left of the Democratic Party. She is sending a signal to Moderates, Independents and Republicans that she will listen to other ideas, based on her documented record of bipartisanship and saying to them them, "give me a look." I know that Moveon and other Liberal Organizations will probably have a cow, and quite possibly was the reason Joe Andrew, former DNC Chairman and now former Hillary Clinton Superdelegate, switched to Obama. She is not afraid of Bill O'Reilley and can talk policy with anyone. I'll bet Obama won't go on O'Reilley and do a sit down interview without any restrictions about the questions he can ask.
